Chess is a self-taught Queer Artist, working primarily with handpoke. After studying art history and playing around with oil painting, they began to fall in love with tattooing as another medium for their artistic expression. Their ever-evolving artworks take inspiration from trinkets as identity markers, soft flowing natural forms and different aspects of art history. Chess frequently works with freehand, allowing a flow with the curves of the body and the creation of unique tattoos that are tailored to the individual wearer. As their work evolves they hope to create more large-scale works that have a dreamy, surreal and uncanny quality.
