Taya describes her tattoo style as ‘ethereal blackwork’. Synthesising elements of renaissance, medieval, and cyber art styles, she is interested in creating larger-scale pieces that create an intangible atmosphere. Although her subject-matter is broad, she loves tattoos that complement the bodily form as well as starkly contrast it. She often uses fineline with subtle shading but also enjoys sharp edges and contrast. Primarily specialising in custom tattoos, the client’s input is integral to her work - often meaning some elements are freehanded and generative.
Taya has been tattooing for over 3 years, beginning her tattoo journey in Newcastle with a bolder, more whimsical style. While the substance of her designs remains much the same, she enjoys pushing the boundaries of the medium. She intends to continue to develop a unique, oblique style, working with her clients on larger-scale concepts and compositions.
